About the Vessel
A professionally managed 50m+ private motor yacht is seeking an experienced Chief Engineer to join their well-established team. This is a full-time operating in Australia, with no charter program.
The vessel is powered by MTU with a jet propulsion system, supported by an engineering team of two. A structured handover period will take place with the outgoing Chief Engineer at the end of November/ Early December to ensure a smooth transition.
The role operates on a 5 day working week, with 2 days off. Weekends and public holidays are generally worked, with days given in lieu. Overnight watch keeping duties are required approximately once every 10 days.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be a proactive, hands-on, and technically skilled engineer, capable of maintaining and managing all engineering systems to a high standard. They will be organised, safety-conscious, and an effective communicator who works well within a small, professional team.
Applicants must hold full Australian working rights. Unfortunately, visa holders cannot be considered at this time due to visa renewal restrictions.
Minimum Requirements
- Y3 Certificate of Competency (minimum) OR MED 1
- Valid STCW95 certification
- Seafarer’s Medical Certificate (ENG1 or AMSA equivalent)
- Proven experience with MTU engines and jet propulsion systems
- Previous experience as Chief Engineer on similar-sized vessels
- Excellent professional references
