We are currently seeking a Permanent Chief Engineer to join a 50m New Build Motor Yacht.
Please Note: The vessel has 8 months left on the build, this role will go rotational at the end of the 2026 Med season.
We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Engineer to oversee the technical operations of a 50m New Build Motor Yacht currently in the construction phase. This is a key leadership role onboard, responsible for ensuring the vessel's engineering systems are developed to the highest standards, aligned with the project timeline, and prepared for seamless transition from build to operational status. The successful candidate will work closely with the project team during the build phase, including full-time engagement with the captain with a focus on technical integrity, safety, and efficiency. The role involves managing complex systems, contributing to the vessel’s walk-through and sea trials, and ensuring all engineering protocols are adhered to for a smooth launch scheduled for July 2026. The position is based in Europe, offering a unique opportunity to be part of an exciting new build project with substantial charter and owner usage potential. The role requires a proactive mindset, true team player attitude, and a commitment to long-term involvement, ensuring the yacht's engineering integrity from inception through to operational readiness.
Candidate requirements:
- Proven experience as a Chief Engineer, ideally with large yacht or naval build background
- Extensive new build experience, particularly within the 46m-50m range
- Experience managing technical systems during construction and sea trials
- Fluency in English; additional languages are a bonus
- Sole engineer experience considered, a team player mindset essential
- Availability to start next month; flexible and enthusiastic about long-term commitment
- Valid STCW and ENG1
- Preferably Y2 Chief Engineer
Package:
- Salary: €10,000 - 12,000 pcm (Permanent Contract) - €8,000 - 8,500 pcm (Rotational)
