Summary
Looking for an enthusiastic Chef who can come up to speed quickly. At the time of hire, yacht will be going into an owners trip within a few days... the upside is they are wonderful.
The Chef will report to the Captain, with our senior Chef as a resource to assist remotely beyond the initial handover. On board we have a Chief Stew, Second Stew and another Deck / Stew. On deck there's the Mate and a Deckhand. Occasionally you'll see the Engineer and Captain washing dishes when it's busy.
The Chef will need to coordinate menus for charters in advance, adjusting to dietary preferences. This will often involve conference calls with guests and charter brokers.
The Chef will prepare meals for the crew... when busy we will often bring meals in or rely on pre-pared meals to ease the work load. Communication with the Chief Stew is critical - on occasion meal service puts the team under pressure. The Chef should demonstrate the capability to communicate effectively and resolve differences professionally. Holding a grudge or masking internal rage will be discovered... similarly alcohol on the job is a deal breaker.
You'll need to demonstrate experience managing expenditure and responsible financial control. We work within a budget, with the flexibility to go beyond it with reason, but we are in a period where we must demonstrate excellent management in order to recover confidence from previous 'wild west' spending.
We track defects on board using PinPoint. A genuine interest in effecting repairs is required - simply reporting defects to the Engineer ("It's not my job") will not be seen as a team player.
Busy program with charters and private use. Caribbean and Bahamas present program.
Please note the following requirements:
- Non smoker required.
- Current STCW and ENG 1 medical is required.
- Must have current STCW and B1/B2 visa (or US) due to itinerary for US destinations. Due to a recent fleet guidance memo regarding hiring crew, non US resident / citizen applicants must not be located within a US territory at the time of signing an SEA.
