Lead Deckhand – 90m Sailing Yacht
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Lead Deckhand to join a large sailing yacht during her refit period in Hamburg ahead of relaunch in April 2026.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone confident in deck operations, tender driving, and general maintenance, with strong practical skills and a background in sailing or large yachts. The ideal candidate will be capable of working independently, taking initiative, and maintaining the highest standards of care and finish onboard.
The role will initially focus on storage, organisation, and yard-based projects through the winter, before transitioning into an operational deck position for the upcoming busy Med season.
Location: Hamburg, Germany (Winter Refit)

Itinerary: Winter 2025/26 – Hamburg / Summer 2026 – Mediterranean
Contract Type: Permanent (Temp considered)
Salary: DOE
Leave: 60 days per year
Nationality: Preference for UK, Kiwi, or Australian, though all qualified candidates will be considered.

Requirements
- Minimum 2 years’ experience on operational yachts
- Yachtmaster preferred; Yacht Rating acceptable
- Ideally working toward OOW, holding or planning EDH/OOW modules
- Confident in tender operations
- Trade or practical background (e.g. builder, mechanic, electrician, painter) highly regarded
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to be guest-facing when required
- Positive, team-oriented, sporty, and social personality
Certificates
- STCW & PDSD (fully updated)
- ENG1 / Valid Seafarers Medical
- Power Boat Level 2
- Yacht Rating or Yachtmaster
This position would suit a motivated deckhand ready to step into a lead role and take ownership of deck operations.
