Rotational Captain – 55m+ MY (Private with Potential Charter) - 1620240
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Rotational Captain for a 55m+ private motor yacht, with the possibility of transitioning to commercial and charter operations. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical and leadership expertise with excellent interpersonal skills, able to interact confidently with Owners and guests in both private and charter settings.
Key Responsibilities
• Full command of a 55m+ MY, ensuring safe navigation, compliance, and smooth daily operations
• Lead and motivate the crew to maintain the highest levels of service and professionalism
• Proactively engage with Owners and guests, providing a welcoming and energetic presence on board
• Confidently manage demanding and occasionally challenging guests, always maintaining discretion and professionalism
• Oversee vessel maintenance, safety drills, and compliance with international maritime regulations
• Prepare the vessel for potential commercial charter operations, ensuring readiness for inspections and guest service expectations
Requirements
• EU based Captain or located in nearby regions
• Proven experience as Captain on similar sized vessels with several years in command
• Strong longevity in previous roles, supported by excellent references as the Owners are seeking a long term, trust based relationship
• Previous charter experience highly preferred
• Strong leadership, decision making, and problem solving skills
• Energetic, proactive, and approachable, fully hands on and committed for the long run
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, a true people’s person
• Willingness to engage directly with Owners and guests, including participation in social activities and events
• Strong track record of managing and developing professional crew teams
• Exceptional knowledge of safety, ISM and ISPS, and compliance regulations
• Solid technological skills, with the ability to manage online platforms for invoicing, payroll, and operational management
Conditions
• Rotation 2 months on and 2 months off
• Single season operation
• Winter base Italy
• Start date: Asap
• Salary: €11,000 during probation, increasing to €13,000 upon successful completion of probation
