Job Posting: Full-Time Captain – Princess Y72 Yacht (Fort Lauderdale, FL)

About the Vessel

We are seeking an experienced, professional full-time Captain to manage and operate a

brand-new Princess Y72 based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This is a private, family-owned

yacht used for day boating, weekend cruising, and monthly trips to the Bahamas and up and

down the U.S. East Coast.

Role Overview

The Captain will be responsible for the safe operation, navigation, and management of the

yacht, while ensuring the vessel is maintained to the highest standards. This is a hands-on

role requiring leadership, attention to detail, and strong communication skills with owners,

guests, and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate the vessel for local cruising, weekend trips, and longer passages to the

Bahamas and East Coast destinations.

• Oversee all docking, anchoring, and maneuvering.

• Maintain all certifications, safety gear, and compliance with maritime regulations.

• Conduct weekly systems checks and preventative maintenance.

• Manage engine room, deck, and onboard systems, coordinating with service providers as

needed.

• Keep detailed maintenance and fuel logs.

• Coordinate and oversee cleaning, detailing, and yard periods.

• Lead any additional crew or contractors.

• Ensure owner and guest comfort, safety, and a first-class onboard experience.

• Plan itineraries and recommend destinations, anchorages, and marinas.

• Manage budget for fuel, dockage, provisions, and maintenance.

• Handle voyage planning, customs/immigration clearance, and scheduling.

• Maintain communication with ownership regarding yacht status and trip planning.

Requirements

• USCG Master 100 Ton license (minimum; higher preferred).

• 5+ years of experience as Captain on vessels 60’–100’.

• Strong knowledge of Bahamas cruising grounds and U.S. East Coast waterways.

• Hands-on mechanical knowledge and ability to troubleshoot onboard systems.

• Excellent references from prior yacht owners.

• Professional demeanor, discretion, and strong communication skills.
