Summary

Job Description:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Mate to join our vessel currently undergoing a paint job in the shipyard in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The ideal candidate will hold a 200 Ton License and bring a strong background in vessel operations, crew management, and maritime safety protocols.

While the vessel is in the yard, the Mate will play a key role in overseeing daily operations and ensuring the safety and preparedness of the vessel and crew. This is a hands-on position requiring strong leadership, organizational skills, and attention to detail.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain overall vessel safety and readiness while in shipyard
  • Implement and manage watch schedules and duty rotations
  • Conduct safety drills and ensure crew compliance with safety protocols
  • Handle basic vessel accounting and inventory tracking
  • Assist with vendor coordination, inspections, and shipyard liaison as needed
  • Support the Captain with project oversight and daily operations
  • Maintain detailed logs and records during the yard period

Qualifications:

  • USCG 200 Ton License (Required)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of safety and emergency procedures
  • Experience in shipyard operations is highly preferred
  • Organized, reliable, and a proactive communicator
  • STCW, First Aid/CPR, and other relevant certifications are a plus

Compensation: Competitive, based on experience

Schedule: Full-time during shipyard period (Monday–Friday, occasional weekends)

Duration: Approx. 2 months (with potential for extension or future sea work)

  • Green Card (or US Citizen)

Essential Qualifications

Master/Skipper Qualifications (or Merchant, USCG & AMSA equivalent)
  • MCA Master <200gt / OOW <500gt
