Position Overview
A well-maintained, foreign-flagged 120’ private motor yacht is seeking a highly experienced full-time Captain to lead a busy, non-charter program with regular owner usage throughout the year. The vessel is professionally managed, with strong shore-side support and a well-established operational structure.
The yacht is based year-round in Miami and Nassau, operating primarily between Florida and the Bahamas. The owner is an experienced yachtsman with high expectations for service, standards, and vessel presentation. This role is ideal for a Captain with a proactive leadership style, technical acumen, and the ability to manage both operations and crew performance with professionalism and consistency.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a Captain who brings a strong record of leadership, safety, and operational excellence. The right candidate will be deeply familiar with Florida and Bahamian waters and confident in managing all aspects of a busy owner-usage.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Minimum 5 years of experience as Captain on yachts over 30m
- At least 2 years of experience with jet drive propulsion
- Proven ability to manage a team of 6 crew members
- Strong knowledge of local cruising areas, maritime regulations, and port logistics in Florida and the Bahamas
- Skilled in budget management, maintenance planning, and vendor coordination
- Fluent in English (preferred as first language)
- US passport holder or valid B1/B2 visa
- Clean references and professional history essential
- Basic engineering skills and diving certification are a plus
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all day-to-day yacht operations, both cruising and at the dock
- Prepare and manage annual operating and capital budgets
- Supervise yard periods and long-term maintenance planning
- Lead recruitment, training, and performance management for 6 crew
- Assign daily/weekly/monthly duties to crew and track execution
- Manage procurement and suppliers in both the USA and Bahamas
- Maintain detailed monthly reports and financial tracking
- Ensure compliance with Flag State and Class at all times, including exemptions
- Maintain up-to-date insurance for vessel and crew
- Manage two tenders: Pascoe and Midnight Express
- Oversee and balance crew vacation schedules
