Job Overview:
A 45m motor yacht, is seeking an experienced and proactive Chief Engineer to manage all engineering operations aboard. The successful candidate will ensure the safe, efficient, and smooth running of all mechanical, electrical, and technical systems on board, while maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and preventative maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of all onboard systems, including main engines, generators, HVAC, electrical systems, watermakers, AV/IT systems, and hydraulics.
- Maintain detailed records of engine hours, maintenance schedules, and spare parts inventories.
- Ensure all equipment and systems comply with international maritime regulations and flag state requirements.
- Coordinate with the Captain and shipyard for planned maintenance periods or technical refits.
- Conduct daily engine room checks and maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized engine room.
- Supervise and mentor engineering crew
- Monitor fuel and water consumption, and oversee bunkering operations.
- Ensure all safety systems (firefighting, alarms, emergency power) are in working condition.
- Liaise with manufacturers, contractors, and class surveyors when required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid STCW, ENG1, and [Y3/Y2/Y1] engineering license or equivalent.
- Minimum [3+] years of experience as Chief Engineer on similar-sized yachts.
- Strong understanding of marine mechanical and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with ISM/ISPS procedures and safety management systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
- Professional demeanor and the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-national crew.
Desirable Attributes:
- Experience with hybrid propulsion or advanced control systems
- Refit or shipyard experience.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
