PROPERTY & GROUNDS MANAGER REQUIRED FOR HNW ESTATE IN VERMONT

A lovely high-net-worth family is seeking an experienced and dedicated Property & Grounds Manager for their large private organic farm estate in Vermont, USA. Responsible for the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and outlying lands, this role requires a candidate with proven experience in a similar role, or transferable experience from another industry, to ensure the smooth running of this large estate in an economically and environmentally sound and efficient manner.
Working directly with the owners and liaising with other team members to optimize the smooth operations of buildings and machinery, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and solving problems, contracting with and managing internal and external support as needed, so must be a tech-savvy, hands-on individual with a strong technical and maintenance skills, as well as being up to date and comfortable with the latest technology. As part of the role, you will work to ensure the health and diversity of native and other desirable species, and beekeeping experience or an interest in learning about beekeeping is highly desirable.
Further responsibilities will include managing and overseeing non-routine maintenance and aiding in any periodic needs of the farm and farm team as they arise. You will be a brilliant communicator and team player, able to liaise at all levels and support fellow workers as needed and requested, and recruit and oversee the work of and relations with occasional consultants and vendors related to the position. A driver with their own reliable vehicle is required for this role.
Working 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday, usual working hours will be 8am-4pm/5pm. This is a live-out position, so the ideal candidate will be based locally in the northwestern Vermont area or be willing to commute to this area daily. DUTIES TO INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
•Maintain buildings, grounds, and land in a well-functioning, environmentally sensitive and efficient manner
•Manage non-routine, non-dealer contact with contractors for repair, maintenance, and special projects
•Periodic research on solutions to projects and problems related to the buildings and the land
•Maintain and/or oversee maintenance of roads, walkways, fencing, gates, woodlands, horse pastures, and fields
•Assist Master Gardener and Garden Assistant as requested with maintenance and improvements in garden structures and maintain compost piles
•Maintaining outlying lands - mow outlying fields, replant and maintain trees as needed or requested, maintain forest floor, maintain peeper migration strip
•Manage fields, lawns, invasive plants, maintain fence lines
•Maintain pond, bridge, and its surrounding trees and bushes
•Maintain chestnut stand
•Occasionally hire and manage temporary and contract help as approved and needed
•Manage all technology and relevant systems at the property
•Manage trash and recyclables from all buildings including HAZMAT removal
•Assure sufficient and quality firewood supplies for sugaring, fireplaces, and fire pits
•Manage and maintain energy systems and fuel supplies for heating and other needs
•Keep non-animal outbuildings clean and organized
•Oversee maintenance of all buildings, keeping them in good repair
•Maintain, repair, and store equipment and machinery in good working and clean order for long efficient use
•Maintain hot tub, including checking chemical balance, replace filters as necessary and clean, periodically clean inside of tub lid and head rests, perform or oversee repairs
•Apiary care - Bee ordering/pickup, setting up hives, introducing new bees, catching swarms, feeding, expanding hives, monitoring, harvesting honey, treating for diseases and pests, winterizing the hives, and cleaning, care of, and repair of all the bee related equipment, maintaining an equipment inventory, and ordering supplies when necessary
•Ad-hoc tasks - Occasionally cover tasks for other employees when they are out i.e., poultry chores, help load hay into barn and move hay to run-in shed, help with bees throughout the season, snow removal, burn brush piles
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
•Prior experience in a similar role, or transferable experience and a willingness to learn
•Sound knowledge of the latest technology
•Mechanically and technically minded with strong problem solving skills
•Full, clean US driving license
•Strong communication and organisational skills
•Hardworking, dedicated, trustworthy and reliable
•Team player with an adaptable, can-do attitude
•Able to work independently with little supervision
•Good level of spoken English and eligibility to live in the USA
•Local to the Northwestern Vermont area or a willingness to commute to the property daily
•Full US driving license and own reliable vehicle
