Elementary First Aid (A-VI/1-3)

To give the participants basic knowledge and skills qualifying them for:

•Lifesaving first aid

•Ordinary first aid in emergency situations

•Evacuation situations onboard ships

Course Structure

Upon completion of the course, participants will have obtained basic knowledge plus skills on:

•The four main points of first aid onboard a ship

•The human needs for oxygen

•A-B-C principles

•Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and practice exercise

•Drowning

•Recovery position

•Hypothermia and treatment

•Bleeding and shock

•Burns and electric burns

•Fractures of bones

•Head and spine injuries

•Stretchers, transport and evacuations
