United Maritime Academy (a concern of the United Group) was established in early 2012 at Dhaka.United Group with its humble start back in 1978 has come a long way in becoming one of the most recognized business houses of the nation and quite possibly the largest company in terms of investment in both social and civil infrastructures. Now, United Maritime Academy one of the leading private institutions in Bangladesh for maritime education and training of international standard. The academy conducts two-year long residential pre-sea (regimental) training for both Nautical Science and Marine Engineering disciplines. It is recognized as an ‘Approved Centre’ of the Scottish Qualification Authority (SQA, UK) for conducting and awarding Higher National Diploma in Nautical Science and Marine Engineering.

The academy received Certification for Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2008) from RINA of Italy and is equipped with Full Mission Marine Bridge Simulator (with GMDSS, ECDIS and DP facilities) and Machinery Operations Simulator both being RINA and DNV Class-A approved. The academy being well-equipped is also conducting the compulsory ancillary courses and other IMO preparatory courses as per STCW requirements and earned Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA, UK) approval for conducting the ECDIS Course, being the only one in Bangladesh.

A total number of 161 cadets have already passed out from this academy. Of them, some are already on their voyage on board merchant ships and others are in the process of joining ships for one year sea time as a prerequisite before appearing for Class-3 Certificate of Competency.
