Tender Engineer
Salary : EUR 4000 to EUR 6500 Per Month
The Tender Engineer represents a specialised technical role within the superyacht industry, responsible for the maintenance, repair and operation of sophisticated yacht tenders and support vessels. This position combines comprehensive mechanical knowledge with broader technical expertise to ensure the reliable performance of these essential auxiliary craft that serve as crucial transportation links between luxury yachts and shore facilities.
Working with diverse propulsion systems and complex onboard equipment, Tender Engineers apply their multidisciplinary technical skills to maintain peak operational readiness of these high-performance vessels. They diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic issues, implementing effective solutions that ensure tenders remain available for guest transportation, watersport activities, and logistical support functions critical to yacht operations.
Key responsibilities include conducting comprehensive maintenance programmes for tender engines and propulsion systems, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical faults, performing repairs across diverse mechanical and electronic systems, and ensuring compliance with maritime safety regulations. Tender Engineers must maintain detailed service records, manage spare parts inventories, coordinate with external technical specialists when required, and provide operational training to deck crew responsible for daily tender handling.
The role demands exceptional technical versatility combined with practical problem-solving abilities. Tender Engineers must possess in-depth knowledge of outboard and inboard engine systems, understand electrical and electronic control systems, and demonstrate proficiency across hydraulic, fuel and water systems. They require both mechanical dexterity and diagnostic expertise to resolve complex technical issues, often while working independently in remote locations with limited external support.
Career advancement opportunities include progression to Chief Engineer positions on larger vessels, specialisation in specific tender manufacturers or systems, and potential technical management roles within the yachting industry. The position offers excellent prospects for technically-minded professionals seeking challenging work with sophisticated marine systems in the premium yachting sector.
