Summary

A 47m Motor Yacht (Private) is looking for a strong Second Engineer/Deckhand to join their crew of 9. The candidate will need at least 2 years’ experience in the marine industry. The job will be 80% 2nd Engineer and 20% deckhand. When you have no guests on board you will be required to assist the chief engineer in the engine room, however when there are guests on board you will be required to assist outside with the deckhands from time to time. So you will need to be a team player and be flexible at all times. The yacht is looking for someone to commit for 12 months or more. Experience on 40 M plus yachts, bridge watch keeping as a lookout, anchor watch experience is a plus

The work on deck during trips involves usual deck duties such as detailing, tenders, toys, anchoring etc. Whilst underway 2nd will most likely hold a bridge watch as a lookout but also undertake Engine Room logs and walk-arounds. Bonuses: 1 month’s salary upon completion of 12 months service.(Subject to owners approval); Leave 38 days paid per year. Flights; 1 x return flight per year to repatriation destination; Insurance full cover.

Whilst in the Engine Room the 2nd Engineer is responsible for a fair proportion of the planned maintenance onboard as well as corrective and breakdowns etc. We’re looking for someone who is able to work independently and safely and to take responsibility for certain systems and tenders/toys and to take on a full role in the department.

Ideally, we are looking for a hands on young guy who is tidy, confident in all aspects of vessel maintenance, electrical, mechanical and who is willing to take orders from the chief. Independent working and initiative a must. We are cruising to very remote areas where hands on experience is essential. Ideal for candidates looking to get sea time.
