Flying Fish is a leading maritime training provider specialising in superyacht crew development. We are looking for a motivated and professional Maritime Deckhand Instructor to join our full-time instructional team in Cowes.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone coming off the superyacht circuit — or an experienced maritime instructor — who is ready for the next adventure while continuing to use their skills and experience to shape the next generation of crew.
The Role
You will deliver practical, hands-on training to future superyacht deckhands, helping students build both core seamanship skills and the professional behaviours required to succeed in the industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering deckhand training including:
- Ropework and line handling
- Washdown and superyacht detailing
- Powerboat instruction
- Jet ski (PWC) training
- Supporting delivery of selected STCW elements
- Coaching students in:
- Industry knowledge
- Professional standards
- Employability and soft skills
- Contributing to course development and continuous improvement
- Working towards future delivery of Yachtmaster Power courses (training provided)
✅ Essential Requirements
- Superyacht experience or experience as a maritime instructor delivering career courses
- Strong practical seamanship skills
- Professional, positive, and student-focused attitude
- Excellent communication and coaching ability
- Right to work in the UK

- RYA Powerboat Instructor
- RYA PWC (Jet Ski) Instructor
- STCW instructional experience
- RYA Yachtmaster Power
- Commercial maritime training background
