Overview
We are seeking a professional, hands-on Chief (Sole) Engineer to join a well-run, commercially compliant motor yacht operating both private and charter. The role requires a technically competent engineer who is also a strong team player, socially aware, and actively involved in day-to-day operations onboard.
Key Responsibilities
- Full responsibility for the engine room and technical systems
- Preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs
- Managing technical compliance in line with yacht Flag / commercial operations
- Watchkeeping duties as required
- Supporting deck operations when needed (tenders, watersports, general assistance)
- Winter period responsibility
- Maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness, and professionalism
Requirements & Qualifications
- SV Chief / Y3 equivalent (or higher accepted by flag state)
- Minimum 3000 kW Chief Engineer license (or equivalent)
- All valid STCW, ENG1, and commercial endorsements
- Strong spoken English (must be able to communicate clearly onboard)
- Experience on similar-sized commercial yachts
- Comfortable working as sole engineer
- Able and willing to assist on deck when required
Candidate Profile
- Male candidate (due to cabin arrangements on commercial vessels)
- Non-smoker
- Socially aware, professional, and team-oriented
- No history of alcohol or substance-related issues
- Active, hands-on, and not “engine-room only”
- Physically fit and adaptable to small-crew dynamics

- Live onboard or shore accommodation during winter (candidate’s preference, but must be based where the vessel is)
