Chief Engineer – 48m Motor Yacht (Rotational Position)
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Chief Engineer to join a professionally run, dual-season 48-metre motor yacht. The vessel operates a busy private/charter schedule and maintains exceptionally high standards of safety, reliability, and presentation.
Position Overview
As Chief Engineer, you will take full responsibility for the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical, electrical, AV/IT, and hotel systems on board.
Key equipment includes MTU main engines and Northern Lights generators.
You’ll oversee preventive and corrective maintenance, manage refits and yard periods, and ensure compliance with flag, class, and ISM requirements.
Collaboration with the Captain and other Heads of Department will be essential to keep operations smooth and deliver an exceptional guest experience.
Rotation & Package
- Rotation: 2:2 (8 weeks on / 8 weeks off)
- Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience, paid year-round
- MLC contract, flights, and full medical insurance provided.
Requirements
- Minimum Y3 CoC (or equivalent) with strong hands-on engineering ability
- Previous experience as Chief or Sole Engineer on yachts 40–55m, or substantial experience as Second on larger yachts with strong references
- Proven knowledge of MTU propulsion systems and Northern Lights generators (or similar high-end marine plant)
- Solid understanding of hydraulics, electrical, HVAC, water-makers, and AV/IT systems
- Strong planned maintenance and record-keeping skills (PMS familiarity an advantage)
- Excellent leadership, teamwork, and communication skills
- Valid STCW, ENG1, and unrestricted passport/visas for worldwide cruising
