Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 gross (equivalent £650–£750 net per week, negotiable)

Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday

Start Date: ASAP

A warm, busy and welcoming family with homes in London and Norfolk are seeking a proactive and highly organised Family Assistant / House Manager to join their household team. The role is varied, combining hands-on housekeeping, childcare support, and house management duties, ensuring the smooth running of both properties.

The family employs a mix of full-time and part-time staff, including housekeepers, nannies, and chefs, and are looking for someone confident in liaising with staff, contractors, and service providers while also being happy to roll up their sleeves and help where needed.

This is a role for someone who can anticipate needs, think ahead, and maintain high standards; an ex-yacht crew member or candidate with strong luxury hospitality/household experience would be ideal.

Key Responsibilities:

Housekeeping & Household Organisation

  • Ensure the home is tidy and beautifully presented at all times
  • Wardrobe management for both principals (degree of involvement negotiable)
  • Packing and unpacking for travel
  • Purchasing and stock control for household supplies
  • Organising and scheduling deep cleans during family absences
  • Liaising with and booking external contractors (e.g. window cleaners, upholstery cleaners)

Childcare Support

  • Assist with school runs and weekend childcare (parents are present)
  • Occasional homework help when nanny is unavailable
  • Liaising with schools and teachers
  • Taking children to appointments and activities
  • Preparing for school trips (ensuring all items are purchased and packed)

House Management

  • Assist chef during dinner parties - including table set-up
  • Recruitment and onboarding of new staff
  • Managing staff rotas and annual leave schedules (in collaboration with principal)
  • Overseeing post, deliveries, purchases and returns (clothing, gifts, crockery etc.)
  • Booking and managing family appointments (restaurants, theatre, hair, medical)
  • Maintaining household diary and sharing relevant information with staff
  • Occasional ad hoc tasks (watering garden, sweeping steps, caring for outdoor furniture)
  • Coordinating and preparing the Norfolk property for family visits, working closely with the property manager and local staff

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven private household, luxury hospitality, or yacht crew experience
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Proactive problem-solver, able to anticipate needs without being told
  • Flexible, discreet, and comfortable with both hands-on and managerial tasks
  • Confident driver
  • Child-friendly and comfortable working alongside parents
  • Confident managing multiple diaries and schedules
  • Able to work Tuesday–Saturday

Benefits:

  • Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 gross
  • Live-in or live-out
  • Annual salary review
  • Warm, respectful, and long-term working environment
