Summary
Burgess recruitment is currently seeking a Mate for a Northern European built 40m+ private/charter yacht.
This is an ideal position for an experienced Bosun ready to step up or an established Mate, the ideal candidate will be confident with ECDIS, watersports, tender driving and will have deck maintenance skills and knowledge.
Bridge operations experience is a must, but this is mainly a hands on deck job
The successful candidate will start as Bosun for a 2-4 week handover with current mate- salary will start as bosun-USD 3500- and increase to mate afterwards.
Requirements -
MUST
· Yachtmaster Offshore commercially endorsed
· AEC1&2
· The following specific course must be completed before joining- Wärtsilä NaviSailor 4000 by Transas ECDIS Training-960min
ADDITIONAL
· OOW modules
· PWC instructor
· GMDSS GOC
· B1B2 visa
SKILLS
· Charter experience essential
· Ability to lead deck crew and ensure smooth onboard operations
· Experience providing training on safety protocols, navigation skills, and overall professional development
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with crew, guests, and third-party services
· Hands- on, handyman with a can do attitude
· Competent and working experience with ECDIS- will be involved in updating charts, passage planning, fault finding…
· Familiar with all aspects of mini ISM-will be Safety Officer on board-
· Excellent tender driving-will drive a 10m chase boat
· Non smoker
Start date: Mid August
Location: Olbia, Sardinia
Salary: USD 6000 + tips
Leave: 38 days - Additional time between seasons to be discussed in interview with the captains

Vessel and Itinerary – Usually Dual season vessel Med-Caribbean-Bahamas cruising- heavy charter and some owner usage.
