Summary
We are seeking an experienced Yacht Engineer for a busy 35m charter yacht with an excellent crew and supportive owners. This position offers the possibility of either a permanent or temporary contract. The vessel is currently in the Bahamas, with an upcoming shipyard period in Florida, followed by a charter season in the Caribbean this winter.

Responsibilities include overseeing and maintaining all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic systems onboard, ensuring optimal operation and safety. The role requires daily checks, planned maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of all yacht machinery and systems, such as main engines, generators, air conditioning, and AV/IT equipment. The engineer will supervise the engine room’s cleanliness and safety, manage spare parts inventory, prepare the vessel for shipyard periods, coordinate with contractors, and provide input during refit and maintenance works. It's important to implement and uphold safety management and regulatory compliance, support guest operations during charters, and ensure all systems (including tenders and toys) function seamlessly. Working closely with the Captain, deck crew, and other departments as a professional team member is essential, especially while on charter.
Requirements include a minimum of 5 years’ proven experience as a yacht engineer on similar-sized vessels (approx. 35m/115ft), strong mechanical, electrical, and problem-solving skills, a solid understanding of planned maintenance systems and safety procedures, and relevant engineering qualifications and certifications required for the yacht size and flag. Experience preparing for and executing shipyard periods is highly desirable. Professionalism, organization, and being a genuine team player with a positive attitude are key.
