We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Interior Quality Control Inspector to join our team for an exciting motor yacht refit project at a shipyard in Singapore. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all interior works, finishes, and installations meet the highest standards of quality, craftsmanship, and adherence to design specifications, industry best practices, and class society requirements. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of luxury marine interiors, and excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with shipyards, designers, and our project management team.
You understand the importance of nurturing strong relationships, as well as understanding the clients’ unique needs and preferences, ensuring the seamless delivery of the project. This role demands a blend of excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a deep appreciation for the nuances of luxury branding within the superyacht industry. You will enjoy a fast-paced and varied role and are not afraid to find creative solutions to complex problems and identify commercial opportunities at every stage of the way.
This position is full time and will be primarily on-site at the shipyard in Singapore. You may need to travel worldwide at short notice, as and when required. Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Inspection:
· Conduct regular, thorough inspections of all interior works throughout the refit process, from initial stages (e.g., substrate preparation, insulation) through to final finishing (e.g., joinery, upholstery, soft furnishings, lighting, hardware).
· Verify adherence to approved interior design specifications, drawings, material schedules, and specified quality standards.
· Identify and document any defects, deficiencies, non-conformities, or deviations from established quality benchmarks.
· Perform detailed inspections of installed components, ensuring proper fit, finish, alignment, and functionality (e.g., doors, cabinets, drawers, mechanisms).
· Assess the quality of surface finishes, including varnishing, lacquering, painting, polishing, and detailing of all interior materials.
· Inspect installations for compliance with soundproofing, vibration dampening, and safety standards.
· Ensure proper installation and functionality of integrated systems within the interior (e.g., AV/IT, lighting controls, HVAC outlets).
Documentation & Reporting:
· Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all inspections, findings, and corrective actions using detailed reports, photographs, and potentially video.
· Generate clear, concise, and actionable inspection reports for the Project Manager and relevant stakeholders.
· Track the progress of defect rectification and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
· Contribute to project close-out documentation, including punch lists and final quality sign-off.
Collaboration & Communication:
· Work closely with the shipyard's production teams, interior outfitters, subcontractors, and designers to address quality concerns and ensure effective resolution.
· Communicate clearly and constructively with all parties, providing expert guidance on quality improvement.
· Participate in progress meetings, quality reviews, and client inspections as required.
· Escalate significant quality issues to the Project Manager promptly.
Compliance & Standards:
· Ensure all interior work complies with relevant marine industry standards, class society rules (e.g., Lloyd's Register, DNV, ABS), flag state regulations, and health and safety requirements.
· Stay updated on best practices and advancements in luxury yacht interior construction and finishing.
Required skills and qualifications
· Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in quality control or supervision of high-end interior fit-out projects, specifically within the luxury yacht, superyacht, or high-end residential/hospitality sectors.
· Demonstrable expertise in joinery, cabinetry, surface finishes, upholstery, and overall interior construction techniques.
· Exceptional attention to detail and a critical eye for discerning flaws and imperfections.
· Strong understanding of interior design drawings, technical specifications, and material properties.
· Familiarity with marine industry standards, class society rules, and safety regulations.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a demanding project environment.
· Proficiency in using digital tools for reporting and documentation (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, project management software).
· Willingness to be primarily on-site at the shipyard in Singapore. Ability to travel extensively and on short notice.
· Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential. Additional languages are a plus.
· Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with owners, crew, shipyards, vendors and internal colleagues.
· Relevant trade qualifications or certifications in a related field are highly desirable.
· A strong work ethic, high level of integrity, and ability to thrive in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
· Ability to think laterally and provide creative solutions to complex issues.
· A genuine passion for the yachting industry and a deep understanding of the unique demands of superyacht ownership.
