Summary
Looking for an enthusiastic Chief Stewardess who can come up to speed quickly. At the time of hire, yacht will be coming out of a yard period and going into an owners trip within a few weeks... the upside is they are wonderful.
The Chief Stew will report to the Captain - is a Head of Department with two stewardesses beneath to direct. In the team is a Second Stew and another Stewardess. On deck there's the Mate and a Deckhand. Because the interior is stronger by numbers, part of the deal is the girls will help outside with wash downs, occasional tender driving, cushion management, towel curation, crew mess monitoring etc. Occasionally you'll see the Engineer and Captain washing dishes when it's busy.
The Chief Stew will liaise with owners and guests, whether before their arrival or whilst on board. She needs to coordinate meal times on board, drink service, cabin turnovers, uniform supplies, guest drinks, snacks and alcoholic beverages.
The Chief Stew will communicate with owners about the preferences, book restaurants, make reservations for shore excursions etc. This includes assisting planning itineraries in coordination with the Captain, Mate and Chef. Communication with the Chef is critical - on occasion meal service puts the team under pressure. The Chief Stew should demonstrate the capability to communicate effectively and resolve differences professionally. Holding a grudge or masking internal rage will be discovered...
You'll need to demonstrate experience managing expenditure and responsible financial control. We work within a budget, with the flexibility to go beyond it with reason, but we are in a period where we must demonstrate excellent management in order to recover confidence from previous 'wild west' spending.
We track defects on board using PinPoint. A genuine interest in effecting repairs is required - simply reporting defects to the Engineer ("It's not my job") will not be seen as a team player.
Busy program with charters and private use. Caribbean and Bahamas present program.
Please note the following requirements:
- Non smoker required.
- Current STCW and ENG 1 medical is required.
- Must have current B1/B2 visa or US Citizen due to itinerary for US destinations. Due to a recent fleet guidance memo regarding hiring crew, non US resident / citizen applicants must not be located within a US territory at the time of signing an SEA.
Program is migrating across to a rotation. Final details are not in place. Please be forgiving as we get it resolved.
