Summary

Private yacht with a family style program.   Captain plus you to run 82' new Hunt Hinckley motor yacht.   Start last week of July in Newport and finish last week of September.   Cruising Cape Cod with 4 weeks in Maine.   Mr and Mrs on board the entire time.  Very rare to have more overnight guests.  1 or 2 evenings a week with guests for dinner or harbor cruise.   The boat carries a motor tender as well as a sailing tender.

This is very much a family program.  We eat meals with the owners, hike, swim, take them sailing, go out to events etc.  These are great perks and speak to who they are and how we are treated.  But, it is important to remember that we are the crew, professionals and not the ones on vacation.  Most meals are eaten out.  Captain and Mrs handle meals when we are anchored out. Your participation in cooking is welcome, but not required.   The Mrs takes care of most of the daily needs and cleaning of the master stateroom.  You will help on master stateroom upkeep on occasion.

You have some experience.  You can see a job that needs to be done and take care of it.  You are willing to help on deck with wash downs and other light maintenance, assist in launching and retrieving tenders etc.   Interior work as needed.   STCW and any medical training is helpful.   The boat is typically used 6 months of the year.  If you are a good fit, you would be asked back and possibly put on other projects during down times.

You will be sharing the crew cabin with the captain. Captain is a 62yo gay man. Ample time is given for your personal needs and space in the cabin alone.  It has worked out fine in the last year with the past stew.  You need to be 100% OK with all of this.  You may work long stretches without a full day off.  However, there are many days when you can get off the boat for extended periods to be ashore, go for a sail or take the motor tender for long breaks.   A 24-30 hour break with a hotel away from the boat is possible, but difficult to schedule.  There is workout gear on board that you are welcome to use.   There is an end of season bonus as well.

The boat is dry. Both the captain, Mr and Mrs are sober. You are able to have a beer or glass of wine.  But any intoxication at any time is inappropriate.
