Summary
Reiya Group is seeking a capable, professional Chief Officer to join a well-run 40m+ private expedition yacht currently cruising Southeast Asia. The Role:
The Chief Officer will support the Captain in overseeing all deck operations, navigation, safety protocols, and compliance. You’ll play a key leadership role onboard - mentoring the deck team, ensuring a safe and well-maintained exterior, and contributing to an outstanding guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all deck operations including maintenance, tender ops, mooring, anchoring, and guest activities
- Oversee implementation of ISM, ISPS, and safety management system
- Stand navigational watch as required and assist the Captain with voyage planning and bridge duties
- Conduct drills, crew safety training, and ensure compliance with all safety procedures
- Mentor and guide junior deck crew, maintaining a positive and motivated team culture
- Work closely with the Captain and department heads to ensure smooth onboard operations
- Support logistics and shore-side coordination during guest trips and crossings
Requirements:
- Chief Mate 3000GT ticket (minimum)
- Ideally working towards Master modules or potential progression to Rotational Captain
- 2–3 years’ experience in a senior deck role on similar-sized yachts
- Strong navigational and safety knowledge with a hands-on approach to leadership
- Experience in remote cruising, water sports operations, and guest-focused deck activities
- Excellent communication skills and a calm, professional presence
- Proactive, solution-driven, and aligned with a strong crew culture
