The Role
An exceptional international family is seeking a Private House Manager in Central London to oversee the operations of their residence in Central London. This is a high-functioning, low-visibility role requiring extraordinary emotional intelligence, refined taste, and quiet authority.
The ideal candidate will anticipate needs without being asked, interpret silence as signal, and deliver seamless, artful hospitality in a home that values beauty, discretion, and readiness for the unplanned.
Core Responsibilities
- Household Operations: Full oversight of the home’s day-to-day functioning with exacting attention to detail, rhythm, and elegance.
- Reactive Event Management: Execute impromptu dinners, guest stays, and social gatherings with minimal lead time—always calm, always polished.
- Staff Oversight: Manage and coordinate housekeeping, kitchen, vendors, and contractors with precision and diplomacy.
- Property Maintenance: Coordinate ongoing and emergency maintenance while respecting the architectural integrity of a Grade II-listed building.
- Culinary Coordination: Oversee daily meal planning and execution across 3–4 individualized dietary preferences; liaise closely with rotating chefs.
- Aesthetic Stewardship: Maintain a visually harmonious and curated environment in line with the family’s appreciation for art, design, and quiet luxury.
- Discretion & Communication: Act as the refined interface between household operations and principals—filtering, simplifying, and shielding where necessary.
- Administrative Management: Handle budgeting, scheduling, rotas, vendor relations, and contractual logistics with quiet efficiency.
Ideal Candidate Profile
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in UHNW, royal, or equivalent high-pressure private household environments
• Familiarity with managing historic properties
• Impeccable eye for detail across interiors, presentation, service, and flow
• Emotionally grounded and motivated by the delivery of excellence
• Formal service training (e.g., British Butler Institute) or background in luxury hospitality or superyacht operations preferred
• Tech-competent: familiar with smart-home systems, secure communications, and digital scheduling tools
• Ex Superyacht Experience would be a bonus
