Current Location: Cape May, New Jersey (seasonal movement through Northeast)
Salary: $130,000 – $150,000 annually (DOE)
License Required: 200 Ton (Minimum)
Citizenship: Must be a US Citizen OR an US Green Card Holder

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced, professional Captain to take full-time command of a 118 Gross Ton private motor yacht. The vessel is privately owned and not for charter but is operated with the level of professionalism and service expected of a charter program. The Captain will work closely with the owner to provide a safe, enjoyable, and seamless yachting experience for family and friends.
This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards and operating a yacht with a positive, can-do attitude. The yacht will be operated with a two-person crew (Captain and Deckhand), both of whom will be full-time hires. You will have the opportunity to hire your own deckhand with owner approval.
Schedule:
- Summer Cruising (June – September):
- Northeast U.S. including Cape May, Montauk, Newport, Nantucket
- Winter Cruising (November – May):
- Florida and Bahamas (short and long-term trips)
- Fall & Spring: Transitions and maintenance periods as needed
Responsibilities:
- Safe and professional operation of the vessel at all times
- Voyage planning and navigation throughout seasonal cruising areas
- Hiring and managing a deckhand; operating effectively as a two-person crew
- Maintenance oversight, repairs, and coordinating with service providers as needed
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and guest-ready vessel at all times
- Delivering a charter-level experience to owners and guests without compromising privacy and comfort
- Managing budgets, provisioning, and expense reporting
Qualifications:
- Valid USCG 200 Ton (or higher) license – required
- Proven experience as a Captain on similar-sized private or charter yachts
- Strong knowledge of the Bahamas, Florida, and Northeast U.S. cruising grounds
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to manage or perform routine maintenance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Non-smoking and drug-free; clean background and references required
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: $130,000 – $150,000 DOE
