We are looking for a capable and practically skilled First Officer to join a 45m private motor yacht currently in an active shipyard period. This is a non-rotational, full-time position, suited to someone who enjoys physical work, takes initiative, and leads by example.
About the Vessel:
- 45m motor yacht
- Built in 2002
- Steel hull / Aluminium superstructure
- Private use only
- Currently undergoing class-related technical works
- Operates as a dry vessel with a clean-living and professional crew culture
The Role:
This is a hands-on leadership position. Due to the vessel’s condition and stage of work, the successful candidate will spend a significant portion of time on deck. Daily involvement in sanding, painting, varnishing, and other physical maintenance tasks will be expected.
This is not a solely administrative role and is best suited to someone confident with tools, coatings, and leading by doing. Practical ability will be assessed during the trial period.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing deck operations and maintenance
- Sanding, varnishing, painting, and general repair tasks
- Bridge watches and navigational assistance
- Supporting the shipyard schedule and class survey requirements
- Tender ops, washdowns, mooring/unmooring assistance
- Implementing SOPs and safety drills
- Inventory and reporting tasks as needed
Requirements:
- Chief Mate 3000GT preferred (or strong OOW with leadership and yard experience)
- Experience on vessels 40m+ in a senior deck capacity
- Competency with coatings, tools, and general maintenance
- Valid B1/B2 visa
- Ability to lead a small team effectively by example
- Familiarity with Triton, Voly, or similar software is an advantage
Additional Information:
This position requires a practical, committed First Officer who is confident performing deck maintenance and leading from the front. The vessel is in a busy refit period, and the onboard environment prioritizes professionalism, integrity, and a healthy lifestyle.
This is a hands-on job, not a clipboard position. Candidates must be willing and able to carry out deck tasks including sanding, varnishing, painting, and repair work. The team is small and motivated, and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute meaningfully from day one.
