LIVE-IN TRAVELLING HOUSE MANAGER TO SUPPORT HNW FAMILY
Location: Switzerland, Italy, London and Greece
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience
Status: Live-in (ideally)
An amazing opportunity has arisen for a travelling House Manager to manage properties in Switzerland, Italy and London as well as a yacht in Greece. This is an incredible role for candidates who love travel and are happy to move between properties to oversee the daily running of the households.
The main base will be in Switzerland with travel over the summer to Italy and Greece. The family are looking to employ a highly professional House Manager with previous experience managing multiple properties as they are looking to create cohesive and universal systems across each property ensuring a seamless transition when the family visits.
As the House Manager, you should feel comfortable managing approximately 20+ staff across all the properties, overseeing both the interior team and the exterior maintenance teams, and making sure each staff member is working to a high standard and at optimal efficiency. You will manage work schedules, be hands-on when required and have an exceptional eye for detail – noticing the little details is extremely important for this position.
Other duties would include creating a house bible for each property in which all the inventories will go as well as weekly, monthly and annual maintenance schedules, contacts for contractors and family/guests’ preference lists. You will be responsible for calling the appropriate contractors and overseeing that work is completed to a high standard.
There is an element of service involved in this role, and you may need to assist with food and beverage service from time to time. You will also be responsible for the packing and unpacking of the family’s suitcases. Previous hands-on experience in service, laundry and housekeeping will be highly sought after.
The ideal candidate will be proactive and have a fantastic ability to pre-empt everything, you should be highly aware, hardy and not easily offended. The family are lovely, who treat their staff well and so are looking for someone like-minded. You should be friendly, personable and easy to talk to. You should speak English fluently but if you speak any other languages, in particular, Italian, that would be considered a big bonus.
Working hours are determined by the family’s schedule however, they do travel frequently so there will be downtime when they are away – being flexible is key. There is staff accommodation provided at each property in which you will always have your own private bedroom and bathroom. All work-related travel expenses will be covered. Other benefits include 25-28 days of paid annual leave and you will be put on the UK PAYE payroll.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Take primary responsibility for all residences, including all maintenance requirements, project oversight and general day-to-day running
•Lead the housekeeping and gardening teams to ensure the highest levels of cleanliness and customer service, ensuring continual improvement
•Ensure all contents of properties are adequately cared for and inventories maintained
•Ensure all residence moves are planned for and correctly resourced, including consideration for pets, vehicles, luggage, transport etc.
•Ensure all teams are supported, adequately trained and well managed
•Run relevant housekeeping budget including all ordering requirements, oversight of utility bills
•Support and welcome guests and visitors as appropriate
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
•Experience in dealing with the upkeep of multiple residences
•Experience in dealing with HNW clientele
•Ability to manage, prioritise and action a large number of tasks
•High standards of customer service
•Excellent organisational skills and proven ability to lead small teams
•Confidence when dealing with a broad spectrum of people
•Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise absolute discretion, at all times
•Ability to gain the trust
•Proven ability to work calmly
•Accurate with superb attention to detail
•Flexible and proactive approach
•Ability to work in the EU
•Valid driving licence (and confidence driving on both sides of the road)
