RYA Essential Navigation & Seamanship

The RYA’s new two day course is aimed at anyone new to sailing or motor boating, including RIBs and other small powerboats, sea angling and diving. It is also useful for experienced dinghy and keelboat sailors and inshore racers. The course can also be a good refresher for others with more experience.

•Passage planning, charts and position plotting

•Safety, including engine checks, buoyage, tidal awareness

•Visual navigation and pilotage

•Rules of the road

•Electronic navigation

•Anchoring

•Weather forecasts
