This MCA regulated elementary first aid course conforms with MNTB guidelines and provides all delegates intending to go to sea, the education and training in elementary first aid to meet the knowledge, understanding and proficiency (KUP) requirements as set out in the SCTW Table A-VI/1-3.

It is one of five courses that together make up the STCW Basic Safety Training Course - an essential qualification for anyone wishing to work on commercial ships.

Delegates should be aware of the practical aspects of the training and the requirement to be fit and well enough to demonstrate CPR at ground level.

Outline the importance of minimising risk of further harm to self and casualty

Describe body structure and functions relating to elementary first aid
