Shore based opportunity A large Events company is looking for a seasonal Events Manager to assist with their busy Winter season.
This company operates over a number of large venues in London, managing over 150 events in the period from Christmas parties to awards dinners and charity events.
Applicants must be enthusiastic, hardworking and have the ability to manage large events. You should be highly motivated and excited by challenging situations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior interior crew member looking to move back to shore, either for the Winter season or permanently. You must have some form of event experience either gained whilst in yachting or previously.
This is a temporary role from September 2018 until the end of December 2018.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• You will be the main point of contact to the client from handover stage to event completion, for a wide range of events; Charity events, Awards, Christmas Parties, Private events and Conferences. These events will have anything from 400 guests to 2,500! • Being responsible for the planning, organisation, and execution of each event. • Attending event-planning/production meetings with clients, tastings and site visits. • Providing the client with accurate and timely information with regards to their event and looking at areas to upsell. • Delivering to the client, the goods and services as defined by the contract. As well as ensuring the appropriate profit margin is maintained according to the budget agreed with the client. • Being able to juggle a number of clients at one time, as well as ensuring each receives exceptional customer service. • Working on site with the catering, production, security and venue teams to ensure the events are delivered as per the client’s requests. • Supporting on the larger events and helping the event manager on site • Maintaining accurate and up to date job files for all events you are organising. • Ensuring compliance with necessary risk assessments and other Health and Safety requirements at events you are organising / managing. • Ensuring all financials are recorded accurately and event feedback is noted on the internal system • Managing invoices and payments for all events and ensuring they are paid as per the agreed terms and conditions. • Keeping the internal database up to date at all times with new/changed details. • Aim to always ‘exceed expectations and provide exceptional client management and event delivery’
An ideal candidate will be/have: • Practical, hands on and quick thinking, • Excellent in problem solving, prioritising and time efficient, • Experience in running events, • Experience in operating in large venues, • Excellent administrative skills, • Excellent attention to detail, • Confidence in a work environment, • Sound knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, • Good time management, • Good at adapting to changing environments, • A good telephone manner and confidence in talking to a range of people, • The ability to work from their own initiative, • Locally based (or within easy travelling distance) and flexible to the requirements of the events industry, • Holding a valid first aid certificate
Based in London for the Winter, the salary is DOE (dependant on experience).
