The position is that of a Chase Boat Skipper Start date is flexible but ideally the 01/03/21 The joining location is Europe. (Exact location TBC) All nationalities will be considered. Good driving experience on similar sized chase boats. Minimum of 2 years in the yachting industry. It could be a deckhand who has had prolonged exposure to driving large tenders/chaseboats and who is a proven seafarer. Physically fit, tall and very well presented. We are looking for an Impressive, intelligent, professional seafarer who is highly motivated, and can be trusted to self-manage and operate independently. The ability to speak French fluently would be extremely advantageous. However not a necessity
The candidate must have a Positive attitude, an eye for detail, maintenance skills; painting, varnishing, caulking, filling, product knowledge, basic engineering knowledge, good tender and chase boat driving skills, great work ethic, ability to self-manage and self-support.
Minimum required certificates (All valid, with an expiry date of no less than 3 months after the start date): RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Commercially Endorsed, ENG1 medical certificate, STCW basic safety training, Proficiency in Designated Security Duties
Duties will include the following: mooring & unmooring the chaseboat, passage planning and itinerary planning, management of finances and submission of accounts, supervision and monitoring of any warranty and service of the chaseboat, responsible overall for the cleanliness and maintenance of the chaseboat, Technical maintenance of the chaseboat, certification management and updating of manuals, primary vessel for guest transfers ashore as well as day trips, ensuring compliance with customs and immigration formalities, underway watches, harbour watches, anchor watches, etc... In addition to the maintenance and care of the chaseboat, the candidate is expected to assist on deck where necessary/possible. This will give him/her the opportunity to get to know the deck team onboard.
The yacht is a 90+ metre private yacht with occasional charters, with a busy Mediterranean season and a slightly less busy winter, usually spent in the Caribbean or Indian Ocean. The yacht is maintained to the highest standard and there is a genuine sense of pride in the program for all those involved.
The Chase boat is +50ft built in 2017. It has been maintained to the highest of standards by the 3 previous skippers. All certification is in order and manuals are up to date. It has received a number of upgrades and there are no outstanding defects or warranty items.
The salary is 4500.00 EUR PCM (negotiable depending on experience). With the possibility of an increase after the first 8 months. The leave is 120 days per 12 month period from the beginning of employment. The rotation is: 8 Months on (March – October), 4 Months off (November – February) Medical and Accident insurance is provided Uniform is supplied by the yacht Accommodation consists of a berth provided onboard the chaseboat. In certain conditions or at the master’s discretion, accommodation may be arranged ashore or onboard the yacht. Repatriation is to resident home port as agreed per contract at Company expense. Flight Allowance: Any flights deemed necessary by the Master for Chase Boat/Yacht operations. The contract is Permanent with a 3 month probationary period Training courses are paid for on a pro-rata and case-by-case basis
