Summary
Position is only available to persons with valid Chief Engineer Unlimited CoC Job Description The First Engineer reports to the Chief Engineer and is in charge of the Hotel Services and Deck Machinery section of the Technical Department.
His responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Deputising for the Chief Engineer in his temporary absence.
To be responsible for the day to day requirements that allow the Hotel Services & Deck Machinery section to meet its safety and maintenance obligations.
The correct operation and maintenance of all equipment and systems in his charge.
Maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the equipment in his charge and the Technical Rooms
To bring to the attention of the Chief Engineer any undue circumstances in conjunction with the operation and maintenance of the equipment and systems in his charge.
To assist in the preparation of requisitions for replenishment of spare parts and materials while maintaining strict recording of parts used.
To carry out, and report on, all Planned Maintenance tasks pertaining to the equipment and systems in his charge.
To assist the Chief Engineer in the collation of the defect list and specifications necessary for the next maintenance period or dry-docking.
To compile a concise monthly report to the Chief Engineer on the status of the equipment and systems in his charge (including summary of FW tests, chemical and gas usage, running hours), highlighting any significant failures or defects, to be submitted no later than the last day of the calendar month. The First Engineer has special responsibility for the following essential safety systems, services and equipment: a) Central hydraulic system b) Hi-Fog fire-fighting system c) Rescue boat engine maintenance d) Shell door and platform maintenance e) Mast hydraulic system f) Fire dampers g) Watertight bulkhead valves h) Watertight doors i) Sliding fire doors j) Monitoring of all aspects of the bunkering, production, disinfection and distribution of potable fresh water k) Gas fireplaces and system
