On the 1st January 2017, one of the most significant amendments to the STCW Convention, the Manila Amendments (STCW 2010) comes into force. It is the requirements for all seafarers to update some elements of the mandatory STCW safety training.

This is a practical course that covers 2 modules:

Personal Survival Techniques and Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting

Accreditation: Marshall Islands (RMI)

Pre-requisites: Must supply copies of previous certificates to allow updates.

Minimum students required to close the course: 8 pax

There are two modules to the STCW Basic Safety Training Update:

1. Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FP&FF) 1 day

To maintain the required standard utilizing hoses and extinguishers and the correct use of breathing apparatus for fire-fighting and search and rescue operations.

2. Personal Survival Techniques (PST) 1/2 half day:

This a practical course to maintain proficiency in the following procedures:

- Donning of a life-jacket

- Use of an immersion suite,

- Jump from height into the water

- Swim while wearing a life jacket,

- Keep afloat without a life jacket

- Right an inverted life-raft

- Board a survival craft from the water when wearing a life jacket.

IMPORTANT:

• Please ensure you supply copies of previous certificates to allow updates.

• Bring spare clothes , wash kits to on the Fire Fighting day.

• Bring swimming clothes, t-shirt , wash kit and swim cap on the survival day.
