The Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster RYA theory course provides advanced training for experienced skippers, building on knowledge gained from the Dayskipper theory course. This course is aimed at those who are looking to execute complex sailing passages offshore by day or night and are able to plan and execute into unfamiliar waters. The theory course should compliment the practical course when skippering passages over 60 miles.

The RYA Yachtmaster Navigation Theory course is an intensive course with at least 40 hours tuition time plus a 6.5 hour exam session.

Courses are usually run over five days, however, timings may well vary during the week to ensure the course meets the tuition time set by the RYA guidelines.

The course fee includes the following materials:

- Course book

- Training charts x 2

- Training almanac

- Shorebased exercise book

- 2B pencil

- Eraser

- Plotter
