This course is designed to refresh basic fire fighting knowledge and to enhance the skills of the participant in leadership and organization of fire teams. Participants must have successfully completed a Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (Section A-VI/1-2 of the STCW Code) or similar training acceptable to the MCA.

This course meets the requirements of STCW-95 A-VI/3 and will involve both practical and theory training. It may also be used towards the issue on an RMI Certificate of Competency.

Structure

During the 4-day course participants will be continually assessed on their organisation, tactics, command, communications and firefighting, including the control of injured people. It also covers topics such as ventilation control, hazards involving dangerous goods, liaison with shore-based fire fighters and the effects of firefighting water on ship stability:

• Fire Theory

• Control firefighting operations aboard ships

• Organise and train fire parties

• Procedures and Response Planning

• First Aid

• Inspect & service fire detection appliances & equipment

• Investigate and compile reports on incidents involving fire

Accreditation: Marshall Islands (RMI)

Pre-requisites: Must supply copies of previous certificates to allow updates.

Minimum students required to close the course: 4 pax
