20 Years in Superyachts for JPMA

In 2017, John Percival Marine Associate celebrates their 20th year in the Superyacht industry. Hoylake Sailing School Ltd was established in 1996, to run RYA shorebased courses, and very shortly afterwards the Principal, Captain John Percival, was approached to run oral preparation for MCA Deck oral exams. JPMA was then formed in 1997, to deal solely with the Superyacht sector and since then the company has gone from strength to strength, providing Deck & Engineering training across a wide range of industries including Workboat and Merchant Navy. JPMA/HSS quickly outgrew their premises and relocated several years later. Hoylake Sailing School Ltd Celebrates 20th Anniversary

In 2016, Hoylake Sailing School celebrates its 20th year of operating as an accredited RYA training centre. Hoylake Sailing School was founded in April 1996 by Captain John Percival. The school runs all of the RYA Shorebased Cruising Scheme courses, and works with sister schools to enable students to undertake practical training. Whether gaining elementary knowledge to ensure safety on the water, or working towards commercial qualifications, students are taught by RYA instructors who have a wide experience of sailing and power cruising in UK and overseas waters, many of whom have held senior positions in the marine industry.   Press Release, 18th May 2016   Alongside the MCA and the National Workboat Association, the late Captain John Percival (founder of JPMA) worked tirelessly over a number of years to develop the Master (Workboats <500gt) CoC.   As part of the required training for this CoC, the Workboat Operations module provides students with the expert knowledge and tailored workboat experience necessary to gain this Workboat specific CoC.   JPMA are proud to be the first training provider to gain MCA accreditation to offer the Workboat Operations course, from our training center in Hoylake, Wirral.   The world's first course took place at JPMA in April 2016, and was a huge success. 2016 sees a new era for John Percival Marine Associates, as several Deck and Engineer instructors have joined our expanding team. Following on from the recent retirement of 2 long serving instructors, Captains Bill Marr and Keith Cederholm, our new additions bring a wealth of fresh knowledge and experience to the classrooms.In particular, two of the new additions have a comprehensive understanding of the needs of our yacht students – one of whom has 12 years' experience working on superyachts, and holds his OOW (Yachts) <3000gt CoC.
